As I´ve told my news for the week I thought I´d share the email below:
I was recently very happy top receive this from one of my heroes, Sir Ranulph Fiennes. With support like this - motivation is sky high.
Sometimes to continue is plain daft and irresponsible at other times there is a chance that pushing on over a particular obstacle or series of obstacles may make things look a whole lot better in which case its well worth fighting off “weak thoughts” which occur when the morale is down only you can be your own final arbiter.
I´ve also reposted the video from the Prince´s Rainforests Project below so that it gets reposted on the Blog Action Day site.

Wise words from a hero of hero’s who knows better than anyone what you are going through! Whatever happens, what you have done already is incredible. I think you’ll make it, but if you don’t no shame! The important thing is that you’re around to talk about it and inspire the next generation.

Giles Brook from leicestershire here…..mate you are an inspiration. I’ve recented embarked on 2 projects , setting up own healhy snack business called BEAR (www.wearebear.co.uk) & setting up European subsidiary for 100% natural coconut water called Vita Coco from Brazil (www.vitacoco.com) which is the best way to hydrate & I’m sure you’ll be drinking your own.

Whilst we are talking about Transglobe (who gave Ed £2000 last years and another £2000 this year), in addition to an email from Ran Fiennes, Ed received one from Anton Bowring, who runs the trust. He said “We, at the Transglobe Expedition Trust, fully understand when the going gets too tough. However, if you press on and confound the pundits by travelling where no one else thought it possible, you will be in the very front line of human achievement.” That’s an amazing message
We fund raisers have worked hard all summer and think that Ed needs to now raise about £25,000 to complete the expedition + pay an insurance premium (if Cho and he get into trouble now, there is no insurance to pay to get them out).
Is there anyone out there who is prepared to hold a fund raising event for Ed? If not for him then for one of his charities? If so, contact me on barbara@fernside.plus.com.
Ed – in addition to the events I mentioned on the last blog, Carolyn & her friends are organising a gig in November, they hope for 300.
I have just received and logged in the details of payments 20 of you have made through Paypal since Ed recently made an appeal for funds. He doesn’t now need £25,000, he needs under £24,500! Thanks so much to all of you who donated. Huge efforts to find a main sponsor are not so far successful. I think I was told that Ellen MacArthur made 2000 applications for a main sponsorship and got 2 replies - one of which was thankfully successful. So we will keep trying - at least we are getting replies, even though they are all refusals! But I am beginning to think that friends, family, bloggers, schools and trusts are our only way to get Ed through this. Are there any more donors out there?

I’m SO glad you found all those millions of fish and had a good feast and your brain clicked into gear…and bugger me if it didn’t make Cho suddenly bi-lingual or perhaps he was speaking in tongues. I’ve heard that fish does have that effect. Before that episode you looked so frail I could barely watch. You’re an amazing pair and we’re all so proud of you. Thanks for the email, matey.
