  • 30th Mar Lima and Project PeruSee stats

We could never have imagined the welcome we got at Lima Airport. As Ed and I stepped through arrivals, there in front of us were a group of school children from Padre Pio de Pietrelcina School run by Maria Sylva, all of whom held banners and welcoming cards with our names on. There were also [...]

We left Pucallpa late to arrive in Lima 22.55. Thankfully we had arranged for a pick up to take us to a hostel. Because we were getting stung for excess baggage we decided to leave our mountain bags at the hostel and go onto Cuzco with our “drop off” stuff. We eventually got to the [...]

Ed and I are currently in Manaus, the largest city on the Amazon. The city has approximately 2 million people and sits snuggly on the point where the Rio Negro meets up with the Amazon. From the air the long line where the two rivers meet can be seen for many miles. Manaus is also [...]

  • 2nd Mar In Sao Paulo, Brazil at last.See stats

¨Why are they in Sao Paulo?¨, I hear you ask. Our plan has always been to do a recce (advance trip) of our route before we actually walk it. This means that from now until April 1st, Luke and I are flying and going by boat to the larger settlements that we will pass en-route [...]

The week has been hectic!!! With Ed and I doing our packing the day before we leave??!! I picked up Ed at about 05.30 on Friday morning and we drove to High Wycombe.
